Flora Carbo's Ecosystem

Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre & Flora Carbo

Details

‘It only takes one note to recognise that Flora Carbo’s star is on the rise.’ Music Trust

About the artists

Flora Carbo’s Ecosystem brings together six emerging artists – three vocalists (Merinda Dias-Jayasinha, Mel Taylor and Hannah McKittrick) and three saxophonists (Flora Carbo, Zac O’Connell and Bernard Alexander) – in the premiere of an unique sounding ensemble (without bass, drums or a harmonic instrument).

About the concert

Flora Carbo’s Ecosystem explores themes of place, environmentalism and social change through improvised music. Just like a natural ecosystem, the band highlights how both individual and collective actions are needed to keep our living, breathing, unique world in harmony. The sextet of saxophone players and vocalists, led by rising star Flora Carbo, presents an enlivening soundworld that is sure to transfix your imagination with tantalising colours and melodies while driving home a poetic message.
