Classical tour de force Ensemble Liaison breaks new ground with genius drummer David Jones.
Regarded as a national treasure, Ensemble Liaison is internationally acclaimed for its spellbinding performances, innovative programs and brilliant collaborations with leading artists, such as violinists Nemanja Radulović, Anthony Marwood and Ray Chen. Now in its 16th season, Ensemble Liaison continues to make magic, presenting thrilling concerts with Australia’s finest artists.
Percussionist extraordinaire David Jones is the master of weaving musical spells, achieving seemingly impossible virtuosity with ease. He joins Ensemble Liaison for an eclectic program featuring Claude Bolling’s Suite for cello and jazz piano trio, Mike Mower’s Sonata Latino and the world premiere of a new work by Australian composer Hugh Crosthwaite, commissioned for this performance. David Jones and Ensemble Liaison first collaborated in 2011. The long-awaited return of their critically acclaimed partnership is a rare chance to explore brilliant music for this unusual combination of instruments.
