Event details

Julia Jacklin’s talent for storytelling is a force to be reckoned with. If her debut album Don’t Let The Kids Win established Julia Jacklin as an artist to watch, her 2019 follow up Crushing solidified Jacklin as one of the songwriters of her generation. Two years have passed since its release, but the world is still catching its breath in the wake of Crushing – a release so emotionally poignant, its sense of vulnerability and power permeate long after the first listen.

The Blue Mountains born, Melbourne based songwriter’s record is full of introspection about relationships in crisis and the strength and fragility of her own body. Her experience is far reaching, Jacklin has released a 7” for the treasured Sub Pop label, an original Christmas song and a Björk cover with RVG in the 15 months since COVID-19 began.

Jacklin’s performance in Elisabeth Murdoch Hall will see her captivating melodies resonate, drawing songs from across her entire catalogue. Feel the full weight of her talents as she distils her craft to its most profound, majestic and empowering self.

Praise for Julia Jacklin

‘Jacklin has an ability to mine miniscule details from immensely complex situations and package them in searing couplets.’ Pitchfork
