‘Masterful … a myth-making quality.’ – Uncut

About this concert

Indie-folk band Luluc will play its first Melbourne show in two years, celebrating the release of its critically acclaimed new album, Dreamboat. Luluc brings together the introspective lyrics of Zoë Randell with her gentle yet compelling vocals and the lush harmonies of Steve Hassett. Based between Melbourne and New York, the band has sent fans across the globe into a spin with its stirring and heartfelt melodies, counting The National, Lucinda Williams and legendary producer Joe Boyd among its many collaborators and supporters. Melbourne punters might recall Zoë’s show-stopping Elisabeth Murdoch Hall performance of Things Behind the Sun as part of the Nick Drake tribute concert series.

On Dreamboat, Luluc’s new songs immerse you in the realm of dreams, contemplating the people and things we yearn for, and the lengths we go to bringing our most indelible visions to life. Traversing influences as diverse as folk and punk, Luluc’s songs are quiet yet haunting; reflective yet ambitious; familiar yet unique. Listening to them is akin to finding an isle of calm amid a stormy sea. Full of ethereal worlds to explore, come experience the waking dream that is Luluc for yourself.

‘Randell’s singing is crystalline and unflappable.’ The New Yorker
