Three-piece band Vardos transports you to Eastern Europe with its lively performances of traditional folk music. Praised for its flawless and authentic sound, the trio learnt its craft from Roma musicians over numerous travels abroad. Driven by Alana Hunt’s wild violin and amplified by the sounds of accordion and double bass, Vardos is ravishingly entertaining.
About this concert
With a flick of her bow, violinist Alana Hunt and the musicians of Vardos carry you away to a mystical, musical world of spells, charms and curses. Magical cures for illness, prophetic calls to war and the intoxicating quest for love are all embedded within the notes and lyrics of Eastern Europe’s rich musical heritage. Performing its own arrangements of these rarely heard tales and lyrics, Vardos puts an original spin on a spell-binding assortment of traditional tunes.
Melbourne Recital Centre is committed to the safety of our artists, staff and patrons. When we reopen, a range of public health, hygiene and physical distancing measures will be in place. Click here to learn more.
