Event details

Rising Stars Dindin and Dandan perform with the Melbourne String Ensemble. Hear the next generation of Australia’s string stars. Program includes all Bach violin concertos – great for music students, families and Bach lovers.

The Melbourne String Ensembles is a dynamic youth string orchestra directed by Fintan Murphy. Comprised of advanced string players ranging in age from eight to eighteen, the Melbourne String Ensemble has a proud history of promoting excellence in music performance.

In 2021 Melbourne String Ensemble celebrates 35 years of glorious music making and 25 years under Fintan’s leadership.

Recipients of several prestigious prizes and awards, such as the Melbourne Recital Centre Bach Competition and the Australian Kendall National Violin Competition, at just fifteen years of age, Dindin and Dandan Wang are well-established as star players.

On arrival in Australia they began six years of study with Fintan Murphy, and played with Melbourne String Ensemble as leaders and soloists. Following a period of study with Margaret Batjer at the Colburn School in Los Angeles, and recently some time at home to see out the worst of the pandemic, Dindin and Dandan will begin their studies this September at the Curtis Institute in Philadelphia with Ida Kavafian.
