Night Pieces

Duo Eclettico

Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre & Duo Eclettico

Duo Eclettico unites saxophonist Justin Kenealy and pianist Coady Green for dazzling concerts of the virtuosic music that exists for this rarely heard combination of instruments.

About this concert

Two premiere performances highlight Duo Eclettico’s versatile and ambitious artistry. The ensemble is joined by Dutch virtuoso saxophonist Niels Bijl and acclaimed American pianist Jerry Wong for Justin Kenealy’s own transcription of J.S. Bach’s magnificent Concerto for violin, flute, keyboard and orchestra, now arranged for two saxophones and two pianos.

Also featured is an exciting new Australian work by Linda Kouvaras, written especially for the Duo. Her evocative Night Pieces: Reflections After COVID-19 suite is based upon Melbourne’s experiences with COVID-19 and the lockdowns in 2020. Ranging from the all-new to the transformed; from the Baroque to the present; and from Europe to our own backyard; rich surprises and flashes of virtuosity await at every turn.
