Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre & Flinders Quartet
Flinders Quartet’s masterful performances have inspired a love for string quartet music, running the gamut of contemporary and classical repertoire for the art form.
Established in 2000, the ensemble is an internationally renowned force in chamber music-making today.
About the concert
Written by female composers during their twenties, the music in this concert dazzles with the unique brilliance that is so prevalent in composers at the beginnings of their careers. Imogen Holst’s evocation of the English pastorale gives way to the beauty of Ella Macens, which in turn sets up Fanny Mendelssohn’s intelligent string quartet. In a program of perfectly balanced artistic aesthetics, each of these composers justly deserves a surge in popularity.
Melbourne Recital Centre is committed to the safety of our artists, staff and patrons. When we reopen, a range of public health, hygiene and physical distancing measures will be in place. Click here to learn more.
