Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre and Mistletone & Andrew Tuttle
Details
A world where five-string banjo and six-string acoustic guitar sit serenely and purposefully.
About Andrew Tuttle
Andrew Tuttle dwells in a world where five-string banjo and six-string acoustic guitar sit serenely and purposefully. Holding a space that is abundant and generous, Tuttle makes tropical folk music that turns its listeners into insiders — beckoning a journey which unfolds many heart-opening moments.
About the concert
His performance in Primrose Potter Salon features works and adaptations from Tuttle’s fifth solo album Fleeting Adventure, and Tuttle’s 2020 album Alexandra. Performed on banjo, banjitar, acoustic guitar, real-time electronics and video, Tuttle’s shimmering waves of decay, reverberation and processed electronics are mesmerising.
Joined by the transfixing Cold Hands Warm Heart, a group that combines new-age with new-wave, resulting in a mood that’s layered and tasteful, blending mosaics of harp, synth, recorder and guitar as a backdrop to songwriting and improvisation.
Praise for Andrew Tuttle
‘His arrangements, in a stream-of-conscious flow, create a childlike wonderment depicted in Miyazaki’s films, providing a restorative portal of escapism.’ The Quietus
