Details

A performance for deep listening and deep feeling.

About the artists

Antelodic is an instrumental chamber jazz trio featuring the unusual instrumentation of guitar with two saxophones. The woodwinds often perform the role of rhythm section, allowing the guitar to become the melodic voice. The trio have developed a highly nuanced approach to their creative practice that allows them to experiment in the moment while maintaining a unified ensemble sound.

About the concert

Their performance in Primrose Potter Salon presents original compositions from their 2020 album To Iceland! To Iceland! accompanied by evocative Icelandic visual projections. While subtly evading expectations, Antelodic’s compositions are loaded with restrained melancholy conveying innocence over knowingness; leaving the listener in an unusual emotional ambiguity, blending resignation and contentment.

Though chamber jazz ensemble Antelodic consists of only three members, their cinematic music feels orchestral in both it’s dynamic and scope. A performance for deep listening and deep feeling.

Praise for Antelodic

‘Meticulously arranged, densely notated compositions with moments of improvisation and sound sculpting, reaching beyond the traditions of both classical and jazz to create a style very much of its own.’ Blue Mountains Gazette

‘The mix of moods and feelings achieved by Antelodic is rare in any art form.’ Sydney Morning Herald
