Benaud Trio – Seasons

Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre & Benaud Trio
Details
What happens when three classical musicians cross over to the ‘wrong’ side of the tracks.
About the artists
Benaud Trio is one of Australia’s finest and most-loved chamber ensembles. Since coming together more than 15 years ago, they have established themselves as formidable performers of the major repertoire, works by Australian composers and are well-known for their outrageous pop-inspired encores.
About the concert
Beginning with a piece written for Benaud Trio, Mark Isaacs’ adaptation of Closer is given his famous classical-jazz treatment. Adelaide based Luke Altman’s Holy Fools provides a sense of calm and continuity. Finishing with Piazzolla’s satisfying take on Vivaldi’s epic Four Seasons, The Four Seasons of Buenos Aries is a fiery and sensuous finale.
Benaud Trio’s Seasons is what happens when three classical musicians cross over to the ‘wrong’ side of the tracks.
Praise for Benaud Trio
‘With Australian cricket’s avuncular figurehead as their inspiration, the Benaud Trio have taken on more elevated characteristics: steadiness under pressure, a latent flair that abruptly blazes into life, unfailing respect for the work and an unaffected courtesy in their presentation.’ The Age
