Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre & Love Police
Two of America’s most iconic bands, revered for their ceaseless sonic exploration, join in a co-headline show.
About the artists
Formed by a bunch of record collectors and label employees, New York’s Endless Boogie are known for their unabashedly old-timey, long-winded electric blues. Over nearly 20 years, Howlin Rain have become the quintessential independent American rock ‘n roll band, melding sci-fi poetry inspired by their cracked and aching country.
About the concert
Their performance in Elisabeth Murdoch Hall will present Endless Boogie’s classic rock boiled down to its fundamentals and looped into sublime, hypnotic infinity. Howlin Rain will play songs from their newly released The Dharma Wheel, delving into a joyous fantasy realm of exaggerated present.
‘No one could call Endless Boogie unprecedented, but their take on essentially familiar sounds, perhaps due to that krautrocky minimalism and rolling-boil feel, seems without any exact equivalent; it’s certainly without any serious competition.’ The Guardian
Howlin Rain are ’the keepers of modern-day psychedelic music.’ NPR
