About KIAZMA Piano Duo
KIAZMA Piano Duo highlights the brilliant musical synergy of pianists Aura Go and Tomoe Kawabata. Equally at home in two piano and four-hand repertoire, KIAZMA exemplifies the intimacy, intricacy and dynamism that make the piano duo such a unique artform.
About the concert
Immerse yourself in the fascinating story of piano four hands, as KIAZMA Piano Duo traverses the complete sonatas of Mozart and notable contemporary works from Australia and Japan. Exuding sparkling grace and elegance, Mozart’s final sonata is dated May 29 1787, the very day he received word of his father’s death. While the sonatas of Mozart exemplify the pinnacle of four-hand writing in the eighteenth century, composers of the present day continue to explore the unique range of possibilities offered by this medium.
Their performance in Primrose Potter Salon will end with an Australian premiere performance of prolific Japanese composer Akira Nishimura’s extraordinary work SumadranManthan (Churning of the Ocean Milk), inspired by Hindu mythology. Their passionate attention to detail crafts a carefully balanced, ever thoughtful synergy that is all at once transcendent and grounding. Join KIAZMA for a perfect day of two concerts of the complete Mozart Sonatas.
