Lindsay Garritson – Daring Brilliance: the Piano Masters

Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre
Details
The remarkable sound worlds of Debussy, Ravel, Scriabin, and Vine.
An avid chamber musician, collaborator, soloist and award-winning pianist, Lindsay Garritson has performed throughout the United States and abroad since she was four. A passionate advocate for new music, her Carnegie Hall solo recital debut in November 2019 featured the world premiere of Carl Vine’s Piano Sonata No.4 written for her.
About the concert
Her performance in Elisabeth Murdoch Hall will explore the remarkable sound worlds of Debussy, Ravel, Scriabin, and Vine. Featuring the Australian premieres of Carl Vine’s Three Pieces and Piano Sonata No.4, pianist Lindsay Garritson will highlight the brilliance and poignancy of Vine’s writing. Having worked closely with the composer, Garritson will offer a unique perspective of his music.
Coupled with works of Debussy, Ravel, and Scriabin, the program will highlight and contrast the distinct colours as well as textural similarities that each of these masters have imagined for the piano.
