Details
Passionate, thoughtful and beautiful jazz.
About the artists
Born in South Korea, raised in New York, now one of the most active pianists in Australia, Mina Yu expresses her unique and authentic story of being a migrant through music. She approaches classical and contemporary pieces with genuine curiosity, dismantling and reassembling to create something new and beautiful.
About the concert
Her performance in Primrose Potter Salon presents a program of great breadth – from Charles Mingus and Duke Ellington to Johnny Mandel, Fem Belling and Mina’s own original works. Her effortless improvisation and creativity retains an undercurrent that is both groovy and intimate.
Joined by her closest musical collaborators, Fem Belling, Ben Charnley and Oscar Neyland, the group makes passionate, thoughtful and beautiful jazz.
