Perfume Genius is the moniker of artist Mike Hadreas. After a riveting 2018 performance, Perfume Genius returns to Elisabeth Murdoch Hall with works from his fifth studio album, Set My Heart on Fire Immediately. The album explores and subverts concepts of masculinity and traditional roles and introduces decidedly American musical influences. Throughout Hadreas plays with themes of love, sex, memory and the body, channelling popular music mythologies while irreverently authoring its own.

Perfume Genius transforms fragility into power with his bold, tender songwriting and sweeping artistic vision. Mike Hadreas and his band bring Perfume Genius’ intensely emotional art-pop ballads to life with a visceral live show that traverses love and sexuality, trauma and triumph.
