About Kristian Chong & Friends

Kristian Chong and Friends is chamber music with Kristian and his friends at the highest level, delivered by some of the leading Australian and international instrumentalists in duos, trios, quartets and quintets.

One of Australia’s leading pianists, Kristian Chong is known for his virtuosic pianism, dynamic range and affinity for collaboration. Russian cellist Elina Faskhi is one of Melbourne’s most outstanding new arrivals; she is a superb musician with an incredible sound to match.

About the concert

Elina joins Kristian in Beethoven’s 12 Variations on ‘Ein Mädchen oder Weibchen’ from Mozart’s The Magic Flute, and Rachmaninoff’s soaring and thrilling Sonata for Cello and Piano, written immediately before his second piano concerto and featuring some of his most inspired writing. An exciting concert with incredible repertoire by two of Australia’s finest chamber musicians.
