The Recital of Iskender Ozan Toprak

About the concert

Iskender Ozan Toprak blends traditional Anatolian melodies with his own musical talents and enables the discovery of new soundscapes with his compositions. A guitarist and accordion player will accompany Toprak in the concert, which will feature a sample of Tatar music as well as traditional Anatolian melodies.

While Toprak is composing his works, he was influenced by the cultures he lived in and he notates what he feels. By way of example, he notated the excitement he felt when he moved to Australia in the work In Melbourne. As his hands hurt every time he played this piece, which is difficult to play in baglama, he named his piece Fire.

During the years he lived in Germany, he saw the piece in his dream called Dream, which he tried out of the traditional playing technique. The works of Iskender Ozan Toprak generally reflect the feelings and thoughts of him within the multiculturalism of music
