Melbourne Youth Orchestras
Melbourne Youth Orchestras is Victoria’s leading provider of ensemble music education for young people aged 8 to 25 years of age, bringing together talented young musicians from across the state to explore music in string orchestras, symphonic bands and symphony orchestras.
The 2022 Melbourne Recital Centre season includes performances from Melbourne Youth Orchestras’ two senior symphony orchestras:
- The Percy Grainger Youth Orchestra (PGYO) features members aged 14 – 20 years of age at advanced levels of performance, often experiencing the thrill of orchestral playing for their first time.
- The esteemed flagship ensemble, Melbourne Youth Orchestra (MYO), for members 15 – 25, is recognised as one of Australia’s finest youth orchestras. Its members delve into advanced orchestral repertoire and many progress to professional careers in music.
