Bach Competition 2023

Now in its fourteenth year, Melbourne Recital Centre’s Bach Competition is dedicated to young musicians passionate about J.S. Bach.

Melbourne Recital Centre’s 2023 Bach Competition, dedicated to young musicians passionate about JS Bach is now open for entries.

Entrants will compete for the Richard Mills Prize of $4000, plus additional encouragement prizes.

This competition is open to any instrument/s soloists, duos or small ensembles (five or fewer) 17 years of age and under (at 1 January 2022). A minimum performance level of AMEB Grade 5 or equivalent is expected.

The competition repertoire will consist of any works of JS Bach not exceeding 10 minutes in total duration. The Competition Final will be held at Melbourne Recital Centre on Sunday 4 June 2023. This event is free, however, tickets will be required for entry.

Competition applications close Wednesday 26 April 2023 11.59pm.
