Melbourne Recital Centre – Senior Technician (Full Time)
The Senior Technician role works in close co-operation with the Technical Manager, Technical Coordinator, Concert and Event Managers, Stage Managers and casual staff in a supervisory role to assist in affecting the delivery of Melbourne Recital Centre’s schedule of concerts and events to the highest international standard, ensuring a safe environment for all staff and visitors. The core responsibilities include supervising and undertaking rigging operations of staging, soft goods and production equipment and the management of contemporary & orchestral staging equipment in accordance with qualifications/competencies and maintaining the upkeep and safety of Melbourne Recital Centre’s equipment.
The successful candidates will have experience and skills in the following;
- Delivery of live international events at a supervisory level such as amplified or acoustic concerts.
- Technical setup and pack down as well as technical operation of various production systems, is also desirable
- Working to tight schedules and time frames and still maintaining quality of work
- Interpreting written, diagrammatic and verbal instruction in stage setups
- Supervising and training technical crew in staging operations.
We are specifically looking for a senior stage mechanist / senior general stage technician with a history of working as an orchestral stage mechanist, ideally with an intermediate rigging capability.
Successful candidates will also need to be prepared to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends.
