There will continue to be frequent updates, so please ensure that you are reading the update with the most recent date and time.
Melbourne Recital Centre will temporarily suspend all public events for four weeks, effective midnight Sunday 15 March.
All concerts and events will be postponed or cancelled, and all customers will be offered a refund or the opportunity to exchange into a future performance.
The decision to close the Centre is based on advice issued by health authorities in order to slow the spread of COVID-19. The Centre will be in communication with all employees, artists and hirers throughout the developing situation.
Melbourne Recital Centre cares deeply about the health and safety of its audiences, artists and staff. We acknowledge that the suspension of normal operations is a difficult but essential action for the health of the Victorian public. We are committed to supporting our staff during this time and difficult circumstances. We thank our community for its support during this challenging time.
Please check the Centre’s website and social media channels for the latest updates and information.
Information for ticket-holders
We ask that ticketholders do not come to Melbourne Recital Centre. The Centre will be closed to the public.
The Centre’s box office will contact ticketholders affected by the closure with information about how refunds and exchanges will be processed. Ticketholders who purchased tickets directly from the concert’s presenter will be contacted by the presenter’s box office or representative.
We are doing this proactively in the interests of staff and the public. We believe this is a cautious and prudent response in an evolving situation.
We recommend keeping up-to-date and following advice from the Australian Government Department of Health, particularly regarding isolation protocol and practicing good personal and respiratory hygiene.
