Legal Friends - Longacres

Legal Friends

Details

Bringing together music lovers from the legal profession to share their passion for recital as an art form.

Legal Friends was launched in 2014 and we are delighted to have The Hon Justice Michelle Gordon and The Hon Kenneth Hayne AC QC as our Inaugural Patrons working with advocates Meredith Schilling, George Golvan QC, and Peter Murdoch QC, to build a network of supporters from the legal community

Each year Legal Friends is committed to funding at least one concert by an outstanding international artist appearing in the Centre’s Great Performers series. The first project supported was a presentation of the three great Schubert song cycles by the Austrian baritone Florian Boesch in partnership with British pianist Malcolm Martineau. The Schubert song cycles were a musical highlight for Melbourne in 2015.

We are inviting individuals interested in being Legal Friends to consider gifts of $500 as Supporters or gifts of $1,000 or more as Melbourne Recital Centre Patrons.

2016 & 2017 Projects

In 2017, Legal Friends will sponsor a special trio of concerts within the Great Performers Series by the world-renowned cellist, Pieter Wispelwey and pianist Caroline Almonte. Wispelwey’s truly original interpretations and phenomenal technical mastery have won the hearts of critics and the public alike in repertoire ranging from JS Bach to Schnittke, Elliott Carter and new works composed for him. The three concerts in 2017 will cover the complete cello sonatas of JS Bach, Beethoven and Brahms. A truly epic undertaking!

We have the opportunity to realise this ambitious project by raising $90,000, and invite you to assist us in achieving this goal by making a gift to Melbourne Recital Centre of $500 or more.

Your generosity will ensure the Centre’s future success and enable Melbourne audiences to enjoy music of the highest calibre by some of the world’s great performers.
