Presented by Ensemble Liaison & Friends
Night Songs

Ensemble Liaison welcomes Australian soprano Chloe Lankshear for a program that explores music of reflection, poetry and the atmosphere of night.
The evening opens with the lyrical Vocalise by André Previn, before unfolding through a sequence of evocative nocturnal sound worlds, including the shimmering Nocturnes of Iain Grandage and Claude Debussy’s exquisite song cycle Ariettes oubliées, where Verlaine’s poetry finds its natural counterpart in Debussy’s luminous musical language.
Debussy’s intimate Sonata for Cello and Piano provides a moment of instrumental contrast, before the program concludes with the passionate and stylistically vibrant songs of Osvaldo Golijov. Together these works create a richly coloured meditation on night, memory and song, brought to life by one of Australia’s most compelling young vocal artists.
