Selby & Friends returns to the Primrose Potter Salon in 2027.

I’m delighted to announce the details of the 2027 season at Melbourne Recital Centre.
This season, we remember Beethoven in this 200th year since his death. Ever a driving and guiding force, it is a privilege to continue to learn and perform his miraculous works, especially masterpieces such as the Archduke and Op.70 No.2 trios.
Our programs also include seminal works by the beloved ‘trio’ of Clara Schumann, Brahms and Robert Schumann. Peter Sculthorpe makes a welcome return, and the stunning mid-20th-century Armenian composer Arno Babajanyan is introduced to our audience for the first time. With the addition of Mendelssohn, Shostakovich, Dvořák, Ravel and Arensky, the season is complete. As always, the programs have been a fascinating collaborative effort, including many favourites while introducing some rarely heard gems, an important element of each season.
2027 sees the return of violinists Susie Park, Natalie Chee, Daniel Dodds and Andrew Haveron, four of our most extraordinary artists. They are joined across the season by cellists Clancy Newman, Julian Smiles and Timo-Veikko Valve, brilliant performers and leaders in their field.
In 2027, I’m also delighted to welcome four newcomers to Selby & Friends: violinist Amalia Hall of the New Zealand Piano Trio; cellist Camden Shaw of the renowned American Dover Quartet; Sydney Symphony Principal Horn Sam Jacobs from the UK; and our own Melbourne-based David Griffiths, arguably Australia’s leading clarinettist.
This is an outstanding season of varied programs and stunning guest artists.
