Harry Cook – All Flaws

Harry Cook by Tajette OHalloran

Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre & Harry Cook

Details

An eclectic collection of stories from introspective odysseys and post-apocalyptic prayers.

Harry Cook draws on his diverse experience as a classical pianist, jazz improviser, and contemporary sessional musician for The Teskey Brothers, WILSN and more to tell evocative stories through song.

About the concert

His performance in Primrose Potter Salon launches his first solo work to date, All Flaws. Joined by an all-star ensemble including Hannah Cameron, Madeline Jevons, Ben Harrison, Claire Cross, Tom Noonan, and Joshua Barber, the release combines the chamber-folk work of artists like Sam Amidon, with production ideas influenced by contemporary-classical pianists such as Nils Frahm.

Against an evocative backdrop of felt piano, improvised wind-ensemble, and carefully orchestrated strings, the songs of All Flaws incorporate ideas and sounds from across the musical spectrum, telling an eclectic collection of stories from introspective odysseys and post-apocalyptic prayers.
