Baroque Competition 2026

Returning to Elisabeth Murdoch Hall.

Formerly known as Melbourne Recital Centre’s Bach Competition, this event’s recent expansion to encompass repertoire from the entire Baroque period lets young artists explore the works of hundreds of composers.

This competition is open to any instrument/s soloists, duos or small ensembles (five or less) 17 years of age and under (at 1 January 2026). A minimum performance level of AMEB Grade 5 or equivalent is expected.

Competition repertoire will consist of any works composed between 1600 – 1750 by any composer, not exceeding 10 minutes in total duration. The Competition Final will be held at Melbourne Recital Centre on Saturday 30 May 2026. This event is free, however tickets will be required for entry.
