Attacca Quartet

Strings revolutionised, boundaries erased.

Transforming Elisabeth Murdoch Hall into a sonic atelier with electrifying intensity, GRAMMY-winning Attacca Quartet revolutionise what chamber music can be.

Opening with Caroline Shaw’s kaleidoscopic Entr’acte, Attacca Quartet immediately signals a fearless aesthetic, where precision meets spontaneity and tradition dances with innovation. Their bold reimagining of Radiohead’s 2 + 2 = 5 blurs the line between concert hall and club, pushing the string quartet into thrilling new terrain.

Shaw’s introspective Three Essays invites quiet contemplation, while Ravel’s beloved String Quartet shimmers with vitality. The set rounds out with The Evergreen, a haunting meditation on fragility and renewal, offering stillness and breath before the final ascent.

The evening culminates in Beethoven’s String Quartet No.15 in A minor, Op.132, a towering late work of structural daring and emotional transcendence, composed in the shadow of illness yet pulsing with life.

From Shaw’s luminous textures to Beethoven’s spiritual vision, Attacca Quartet offers a performance that lingers long after the final note, reshaping the intimacy of live chamber music.
