Watch as three of Australia's most experienced chamber musicians – violinist Zoë Black, violist Caroline Henbest and cellist Molly Kadarauch – reunite as a trio.

This Beacon Bach morning is devoted entirely to one work: Dimitri Sitkovetsky's arrangement of the Goldberg Variations for string trio. Originally written for solo keyboard, Bach's masterpiece begins with a simple, songlike aria before spinning out into thirty variations of astonishing range — from playful canons to moments of deep melancholy. Reimagined for strings, its many voices are given new breath and colour.

Our Visitor Experience team will do their best to seat your party together within your selected seating type. Smaller groups may be seated alongside other ticket holders, and for sold-out performances, parties who booked later may need to be split across the remaining available seats.

Zoë Black is a violinist's violinist, known for her beauty of sound and natural virtuosity. In 1989 she won the National Youth Concerto Competition and in 1991, the string section of the ABC Young Performers Awards. Zoë was appointed assistant leader of the Australian Chamber Orchestra in 1993, touring the world extensively. A committed chamber musician, in 2005 Zoë co-founded the Freshwater Trio with whom she toured nationally and internationally. She has also performed as soloist with various chamber and symphony orchestras and is a regular guest concertmaster with the Melbourne and Queensland Symphony Orchestras.

Caroline Henbest is a violist and Feldenkrais Practitioner based in Melbourne, Australia. She performs as a chamber musician, soloist, and extra player in the Melbourne Symphony Orchestra and enjoys regular appearances at festivals such as the Stradbroke Island Chamber Music Festival and Music by the Springs. Caroline moved to Australia from England in 1993 to be Principal Viola with the Australian Chamber Orchestra (ACO). She was a full-time member for eight years and a part-time member for ten. Since 2015 she has been Resident Viola Faculty at the Australian National Academy of Music.

Molly Kadarauch is one of Australia’s pre-eminent and versatile cellists who has concertized at leading venues all over the world as well as within Australia as a former member of the Australian Chamber Orchestra, and as a chamber musician, soloist, and symphony orchestral player. Molly is also a passionate educator and has over the past 20 years enjoyed working with students from various ages and abilities as well as at the Melbourne Conservatorium, Queensland Conservatorium (Griffith University), Australian National Academy of Music, the ACO Academy, the Australian Youth Orchestra, Melbourne Youth Orchestra and with Sutherland Trio as a mentor group for young “Strike a Chord” competition prize-winners.
