Experience a genre-defying blend of musical cultures as award-winning guzheng (Chinese harp) player Mindy Meng Wang and acclaimed composer Paul Grabowsky perform their new album, Between Dreams.
The pair seamlessly weave Grabowsky's jazz-influenced piano compositions with Meng Wang's enchanting and virtuosic performances on the guzheng, crafting an improvisation-led musical journey that bridges traditional Chinese music and contemporary jazz. A groundbreaking collaboration, Between Dreams carves a pathway for an entirely new form of music you won't want to miss.

About the Artists
Mindy Meng Wang is a Chinese/Australian composer and world-leading contemporary Guzheng Performing Artist. She is a pioneer in bringing the Guzheng (an ancient Chinese harp) into Western genres, spanning experimental, jazz, Western classical, electronic, pop, and improvisation. In Europe, she has collaborated with many high-profile international and local artists including Gorillaz, Regurgitator, Tim Shiel, Paul Grabowsky and Deborah Cheetham, Australian Art Orchestra, Orchestra Victoria, Sydney Symphony Orchestra and more.
Mindy won Best Musician of the 2021 Music Victoria Awards and the "40 Under 40: Most Influential Asian Australian Awards" the same year. She was also Melbourne Recital Centre's Artist in Residence for 2022-23, the first-ever musician to play a non-Western instrument. Mindy's long-term vision is to create a strong voice for female composers and artists of Asian heritage, and more importantly, create a deeper and reciprocal musical connection between Australia and Asia.
Professor Paul Grabowsky AO is a pianist composer, arranger and conductor with a career spanning nearly 50 years. He is considered one of Australia's most significant musicians. he has recorded over 40 albums and has won 8 ARIA Awards, as well as numerous APRA awards, 2 Helpmann Awards and a Deadly Award. He is the founder of the Australian Art Orchestra which he led for 19 years. He directed the Queensland Music Festival in 2007 and Adelaide Festival of Arts in 2010 & 2012. He was made an Officer of the Order of Australia. He is currently ED of Monash University Performing Arts Centres.
