Eternal Dreams

Bold beginnings. Romantic dreams. The Melbourne Youth Orchestra, charged with drama and daring.

Join the Melbourne Youth Orchestra in Eternal Dreams as they explore music driven by courage, imagination and emotional intensity.

Beethoven’s Leonore Overture No.3 launches the program with a powerful statement of struggle and triumph, its urgency setting the tone for an evening of drama.

Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No.1 follows, featuring exceptional soloist and former MYO musician Freya Parr - showcasing lyrical elegance, agility and expressive warmth.

After interval marks a shift in mood. Richard Strauss’s Träumerei am Kamin, offers a moment of reflection and intimacy. The concert culminates in Strauss’s exhilarating Don Juan - a vivid and fearless portrait bursting with energy, passion and orchestral colour.

Through these works, the Melbourne Youth Orchestra charts a compelling journey from heroic resolve to dreamlike reverie and unrestrained drama.
