Wurrtoo: The Wombat Who Fell In Love With The Sky

Wurrtoo: The Wombat Who Fell in Love with the Sky

A quintet of MCO string players will present a musical retelling of Tylissa Elisara’s charming story of Wurrtoo the wombat on his daring quest to marry the sky.

The performance will include an abridged narration of Elisara’s novel, which takes inspiration from such classic children’s books as Winnie the Pooh and Blinky Bill, as well as stories from the author’s own Narungga, Kaurna and Adnyamathanha heritage.

This performance will feature music composed by esteemed Noongar, Yamatji and Wongi composer, Aaron Wyatt.

It will open with an introduction to string instruments and a range of demonstrations and activities designed to guide listening and optimise engagement and participation.

Children will have an opportunity to experience high-quality music making, while enjoying this very special tale about friendship, adventure, and facing your fears.
