Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre
Natalie Clein with Stefan Cassomenos

Travel from Bach's quiet devotion to Beethoven's youthful fire.
British cellist Natalie Clein has spent three decades captivating audiences with a sound described as ‘mesmerising’ and ‘soaringly passionate’ (The Times). Having brought her artistry to the world's great orchestras and halls, from the Philharmonia and Hallé to the Montreal Symphony, she brings an expressiveness that has had her compared to Jacqueline du Pre to this intimate Melbourne morning recital.
Moving from the quiet devotion of Bach's Prelude to the youthful ardour of Beethoven, this recital seamlessly arrives at the shimmering colour of Deborah Pritchard's Radiance before venturing into a cello transcription of Elgar's late-career masterpiece. At the piano, Stefan Cassomenos, one of Australia's most celebrated musicians in his own right – a prize-winner at the International Telekom Beethoven Piano Competition in Bonn and a composer whose own works are performed nationally. Together, Clein and Cassomenos promise a morning of warmth and excitement.
