Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre
Francesca Dego with Andrea Lam

Two virtuosos trace a journey through beauty, grief and fire.
Known for her 'playing that combines tonal purity, verve and an evident delight in the unexpected' (Gramophone), Italian violinist Francesca Dego captivates audiences on the world's great stages. Joined by ARIA award-winning Australian pianist Andrea Lam, an artist described by the Wall Street Journal as 'a real talent', Dego and Lam unite for a morning bookended by two great Sonatas for violin and piano.
The recital starts with the dreamlike colours of Debussy and ends with the fireworks of one of the most demanding and thrilling works in the violin repertoire, Beethoven's Sonata No.9. Between these sonatas sits a tender newly commissioned work by Silvia Colasanti. One of only 10 works that makes up Feathers of Time – a series Dego has commissioned to honour her late, great poet father Giuliano Dego. This recital is promises an extraordinary morning experience as the performers trace an arc through beauty, grief and fire.
