Presented by Melbourne String Ensemble
40th Anniversary Concert

Forty years. Five ensembles. World-class alumni. One night. Join us.
Forty years ago, Melbourne String Ensemble was founded on the belief that exceptional music-making can begin early and last a lifetime. On July 10, MSE celebrates this milestone with a landmark concert uniting all five ensembles - MSE, MSE Chamber, MSE Intermezzo, MSE Prelude, and MSE Arietta - on stage for the first time, led by Fintan Murphy, Danielle Arcaro, Rohan Mack, and Naomi Durston. The concert also marks Fintan Murphy’s thirty years leading MSE, shaping the ensemble’s character and reach.
Joining the ensembles are acclaimed alumni soloists Dindin Jingyi Wang and Dandan Jingfei Wang, former MSE students who studied under Fintan before continuing to the Curtis Institute of Music and international solo careers, alongside other MSE alumni performing throughout the programme.
Featuring works including Chausson’s Poème, Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in D minor, Sarasate’s Navarra, and Carl Vine’s Smith’s Alchemy, the programme celebrates the students, families, alumni, and supporters who have shaped MSE across four decades.
Duration: 3 hours (incl. interval). Please note, running times are approximate and subject to change.
