Presented by Melbourne Youth Orchestras
Symphonic Rachmaninoff – Rapture and Reverie

90 exceptional young musicians of the Melbourne Youth Orchestra present this program bursting with exuberance, colour, and emotion.
From the wild exhilaration of Berlioz's Le Carnaval Romain to the sweeping romance of Rachmaninoff's Symphony No.2, this will be a powerful concert experience.
Rising star soprano, Mia Robinson, joins the orchestra in selections from Canteloube's Songs of the Auvergne, music all but peerless for its exquisite orchestration and haunting beauty.
In a concert overflowing with highlights, it is the ravishing slow movement of Rachmaninoff's Second Symphony that holds a special place. Its melody can be heard echoed in countless film scores and pop ballads by composers drawn to its unforgettable beauty.
