We're opening our doors to welcome music-lovers, architecture and acoustic aficionados, and curious explorers. 

Explore Melbourne Recital Centre, where live music lives. Take a deep dive into the Centre's history with guided venue tours, join our free community choir in the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall for a singalong, or listen to ARM Architecture and ARUP discuss the design of the space or see our artist in residence.

The Centre's foyers and performance spaces are open access, ready for exploration.

The Primrose Potter Salon will be open between 10am - 1.30pm and 3pm - 4pm.

Choir 3006

10.30am - 11.30am

Join us for a special session of Choir 3006 in the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall. Led by dynamic choral conductor Renee Heron, Choir 3006 is our free community choir where all are welcome.

Guided Tours of the Centre

12pm - 1pm, 2pm - 3pm, 3.30pm - 4.30pm

Get to know Melbourne Recital Centre with a guided tour where you can get up close to the beauty of the timber-lined Elisabeth Murdoch Hall and learn about the design of our world-class performance spaces.

During this hour-long tour, you'll get the chance to explore backstage, appreciate the Centre's design and marvel at the architecture of this fascinating venue.

ARM Architecture, ARUP & LendLease in Conversation

Join the architects, acousticians and builders in a conversation about the concept, design and construction of Melbourne Recital Centre.

Arriving early? Part one of this discussion will take place at Melbourne Theatre Company (next door to MRC) from 11.30am and will focus on the design of the Southbank Theatre.

Artist-in-Residence Talk

Robin Fox - The History of Australian Electronic Music
2pm - 3pm

Visionary audio-visual raconteur and founding director of Melbourne Electronic Sound Studio (MESS), Robin Fox is MRC's 2025 Artist-in-Residence.

Drawing threads from the early free music experiments of pianist and composer Percy Grainger, Fox takes listeners on a journey through the Australian electronic music psyche.
