Presented by Melbourne Conservatorium of Music
Scene

Join The University of Melbourne Wind Symphony for a concert of musical storytelling.
Melbourne-native and composer, Mary Finsterer's Nextwave Fanfare is a child's anticipation of something unexpected and a bit monstrous.
The next work, The Low-Down Brown Get-Down by Omar Thomas, quotes musical styles like funk, R&B, soul, early hip hop, blues, and even film noir to stitch together its 'scenes.'
Evoking the vast American landscape, Aaron Copland's The Red Pony Film Suite is a soundscape from the film version of John Steinbeck's novella, The Red Pony, which tells the tale of a boy's life on a Californian ranch.
To end the concert with a spectacle, the ensemble presents Julie Giroux's Symphony No.6 'The Blue Marble', which is a musical cinematic tour around the globe and will be played alongside a movie.
Duration: 2 hours(incl. interval). Please note, running times are approximate and subject to change.
