Selby & Friends celebrates Beethoven, marking 200 years since the death of one of music’s most enduring masters.
Beethoven features prominently throughout the 2027 season, beginning with an opening program dedicated entirely to piano trios composed within just three years. Together, these works reveal the extraordinary trajectory of a composer at the height of his creative powers.
String masters Andrew Haveron and Timo-Veikko Valve return to join Kathryn Selby for this special program. Composed during a period when Beethoven was already completely deaf and facing immense personal difficulties, these seminal works showcase the remarkable breadth of his musical gifts. From the intimate to the monumental, they offer a powerful portrait of Beethoven at his finest, 200 years after his death.
