The Others

Musical icons Paul Grabowsky, James Morrison, Kram, and William Barton unite in this rare collaboration.
Do you know what happens when a First Nations vocalist and yidaki player, a rock drummer, a world-renowned multi-instrumentalist, and a polymath pianist/composer walk onto a stage?
Neither do they.
Defying categorisation, experience an unforgettable musical evening as pianist Paul Grabowsky, legendary trumpeter James Morrison, First Nations artist William Barton, and Spiderbait's iconic drummer Kram unite for a completely improvised performance. Masters of their chosen craft, the unlikely quartet share a curiosity that opens them up to the challenges and joys of discovery. While their individual journeys began in differing musical worlds, their paths intersect at one vital point – spontaneous composition.
With no two shows ever being the same, it is this combination of disparate influences that creates the perfect storm on stage. It ebbs and flows. It can be heartachingly melodic. Yet, somehow, it makes sense. They love coming together in this most curious of projects, and the joy is palpable.

William Barton has, for over two decades, forged a peerless profile as a performer and composer in the classical musical world, from the Philharmonic Orchestras of London and Berlin to historic events at Westminster Abbey for Commonwealth Day 2019, Anzac Cove, and the Beijing Olympics. His awards include Winner of Best Original Score for a Mainstage Production at the 2018 Sydney Theatre Awards, and Winner of Best Classical Album with ARIA for Birdsong At Dusk in 2012. With his prodigious musicality and the quiet conviction of his Kalkadunga heritage, he has vastly expanded the horizons of the didgeridoo — and the culture and landscape that it represents.
Kram is an Australian musician best known as the drummer and vocalist for the iconic rock band Spiderbait, achieving critical and commercial success, including multiple chart-topping hits that have cemented the band’s place in Australian music history. They were the first Australian band to win Triple J’s hottest 100 with Buy me a Pony in 1997 and in 2004, went to number 1 with their version of Black Betty, the song becoming an international hit, reaching over 150 million hits online. Beyond Spiderbait, Kram has explored solo ventures, releasing his debut solo album Mix Tape in 2009. He is also collaborated with the supergroups ARC and The Wrights, performing the classic Evie at the 2005 WaveAid concert for tsunami relief. A charismatic performer, Kram has appeared on various Australian television shows like Spicks & Specks, Talkin’ ‘bout My Generation & Good News Week. Known for his high-energy drumming and powerful vocals, Kram remains a vibrant figure in Australia’s music and entertainment scene.
