The University of Melbourne Wind Symphony & MCM Honour Band 2026

A vibrant program celebrating the colour, energy and virtuosity of the wind ensemble.

From the wit and brilliance of Prokofiev's March in B-flat to Natalie Williams' exhilarating Pendulum, conducted by Melbourne Conservatorium of Music Concert Band Conductor Chris Day, the program showcases the remarkable versatility of the ensemble. Conservatorium faculty member Jerry Wong joins the Wind Symphony for Stravinsky's landmark Concerto for Piano and Wind Instruments before the evening culminates in Bernstein's thrilling Symphonic Dances from West Side Story.

Before the concert, we are delighted to present the inaugural performance of the MCM Honour Band. Bringing together outstanding secondary school wind, brass and percussion musicians from across Victoria, the Honour Band reflects the Conservatorium's commitment to nurturing the next generation of performers, educators and arts leaders. We warmly welcome these young musicians to the stage as they share the results of an intensive weekend of music-making, learning and collaboration.

Ticket Prices

Tickets to this event are free, however booking is required.

Please note, if the event is sold out, you may still obtain a seat by arriving at the venue before the start time and visiting the Box Office. They will have a supply of additional tickets available on the day exclusively for walk-ups.
