Cristina Russo & Adam Cook – I Will Follow You Into the Dark

Cristina Russo

Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre and Cristina Russo & Adam Cook

Details

Unite through music, love, and loss.

From Purcell to Death Cab for Cutie, this program explores the nature of love; from its first frisson of excitement to the inevitable anguish of heartache and loss.

Travelling through over 400 years of music, journey through folk, early baroque, opera and indie rock. Despite the time that separates these genres, the message is clear: love is eternal, and sorrow a necessary part of the human condition.

Carefully crafted musical segues unite seemingly disparate pieces, suggesting the program in its entirety is one unified work with a beating emotional undercurrent throughout.

Through exploring her Italian-Australian background in sourcing works, Cristina says this performance serves as a ‘reminder that there is more that unites than divides us in our pluralistic society.’
