Enjoying music is a life-long journey and should be accessible for everyone.
Through our Music Always and Share the Music programs, Melbourne Recital Centre provides access to high quality live music performances for assisted living and aged care residents.
Those in community care can also go behind the music with a number of in-Centre programs that enhance the performance experience such as master classes and the Music Talks series. Explore true musical engagement here.
Continuing the life-long journey of music enjoyment, the Music Always program brings world-class ensembles to not-for-profit aged care and assisted living facilities across Victoria.
For young chamber ensembles in regional Victoria looking to take the next step, our Regional Music Exchange program provides professional development sessions with industry leaders and a managed tour across the state. Working together with violinist John Noble and the iTet program, this year a young string quartet from Bendigo Secondary College embark on a regional tour visiting Aged Care facilities in Euroa, Shepparton and Wangaratta.
Melbourne Recital Centre is a place of discovery and enrichment. Simply experiencing a live performance reveals new insights, details you might never have noticed and the chance to watch the performer or ensemble react to the music and each other. If you want to go deeper into what makes music work or the effect it has on our mind and wellbeing, Melbourne Recital Centre regularly presents informative and entertaining talks.
Research reveals that both children and adults benefit emotionally, intellectually, socially and even physically from the shared experience of live music. Here at the Centre we take pride in being able to create engaging live music experiences for people of all ages with diverse music interests and different backgrounds. Launched in 2010, our Share the Music program aims to enrich the lives of children and adults in our community who face barriers to access.
Melbourne Recital Centre opens the doors of its intimate Salon on one Monday each month from March to December for FREE open rehearsals featuring the very best of Melbourne’s chamber musicians.
2019 details will be announced soon.
This series of lively illustrated talks presented by experts in the field is designed to introduce you to key figures and concepts in music history, complete with live musical demonstrations.
