Affinity Quartet – Innovators

Affinity Quartet

Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre & Affinity Quartet

Details

Affinity Quartet perform revolutionary masterpieces by Haydn and Bartók.

Join Affinity Quartet as they perform a program of innovative treasures for string quartet by Haydn and Bartók. Opening with Haydn’s String Quartet Op.76, No.3 in C ‘Emperor’, witness this ground-breaking composition which was lauded at the time as being ‘full of invention, fire, good taste, and new effects.’ At the turn of the twentieth century, Bartók’s first String Quartet looks back to Beethoven’s monumental String Quartet in C-sharp minor, Op.131, to forge a visceral, haunting musical language that he would expand upon over the next thirty years.
