About the concert

Embark on a musical journey as Ensemble Offspring’s renowned Chamber musicians take centre stage. Performing alone, yet moving within each other’s orbit, Ensemble Offspring’s world-renowned chamber musicians step into the spotlight as soloists. Now in its fourth iteration, Lone Hemispheres presents world premieres and the avant-garde masterpieces which inspired them.

Representing the latest generation of Australian composers, Huw Belling, Jane Sheldon, Holly Harrison, and Lachlan Skipworth worked closely with Ensemble Offspring’s soloists to sculpt sister works to timeless classics by Kaija Saariaho, Liza Lim, Jacob Druckman and Magnus Lindberg. Supported by the musicians’ deep connection with their instruments, these daring young composers pay homage to compositional greats in an all-round showcase of Australian compositional prowess.

Praise for Ensemble Offspring

‘This is an ensemble of Australia’s finest musicians performing innovative, relevant, and engaging new music that bursts with imagination, energy, and inspiration. New music needs to be as carefully programmed and brilliantly performed as Ensemble Offspring consistently does to ensure its reputation grows.’ – Seesaw Magazine
