About the performance
Her performance in Elisabeth Murdoch Hall as part of Music Play 2023 presents her very special album Follow the Sun — a celebration of her country, kids, language and community.
Commissioned by ABC Kids and released in 2022, Follow the Sun features original songs penned by Donovan, alongside much-loved classic children’s tunes such as I Can Sing a Rainbow and Once I Caught a Fish Alive sung in Noongar and Gumbaynggirr languages. Children are encouraged to sing along and discover new dances and rhythms as they follow the sun with Emma Donovan.
Interwoven with stories from Emma’s childhood, growing up in Nambucca NSW, and backed by an all-star band of Melbourne jazz legends including Eugene Ball on trumpet, Andrea Keller on piano, Fred Leone on kulurru/bargan/djadju and more, this will be a joyous experience both parents and children alike.
