Ryan Powderly

Suitable for 8-12 year olds

Details

Learn how to compose high energy beats using everyday household objects.

Ryan Powderly is a Naarm-based club DJ and producer, responsible for some inspired and absurd Household Techno videos during the COVID lockdowns. These videos led to live-streaming his Household Techno sessions to thousands of Twitch viewers, creating household bangers for milk and sneaker commercials and running weekly music workshops for young people at Melbourne learning spaces The Channel (Arts Centre Melbourne) and The Push.

About the workshop

In this interactive workshop as part of Music Play Kids and Families Festival 2023, each participant will learn how to compose high energy beats using everyday household objects, contributing their own performances to build a dynamic techno track collaboratively.

As an introduction to music production, the workshop will explore the key elements of rhythm and the musical potential of every day household items, using Ableton Live music software.
