Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre & Onur Puza Mycorrhizal Band

Details

A contemporary, improvisational practice inspired by traditional Anatolian song.

Jazz ensemble Mycorrhizal takes inspiration from traditional Turkish melodies, applying an improvisational lens to their practice. Turkish born guitarist, composer and arranger Onur Puza’s dynamic career spans over two decades across Turkey, Europe and Australia. Their union is a continuation of what began as a cultural art project for the American Embassy in Turkey.

About the concert

Their performance in Primrose Potter Salon takes elements from traditional Anatolian songs, applying a contemporary vision and improvisational practice. Onur Punza’s experience in jazz and traditional music, paired with Mycorrhizal’s pure spirit creates space for greater exploration of the complex rhythmic structure of traditional songs.

An exciting and captivating evening of original music.
