Pride & Joy

Pride & Joy

Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre and Orchestra Victoria & Midsumma Festival

Details

A celebration of queer composers across time and place.

Midsumma is Australia’s premier queer arts and cultural organisation, bringing together a diverse mix of LGBTQIA+ artists, performers, communities and audiences.

About the concert

The voices of LGBTQIA+ composers can be heard in music throughout history, yet this is often omitted from historical retellings, and so from our collective memories. Join the musicians of Orchestra Victoria as they celebrate queer luminaries of the past and contemporary voices lighting the way into the future.

This very special program features works by Deborah Cheetham AO, Aaron Copland, Caroline Shaw, Naima Fine Fine and Pyotr Ilych Tchaikovsky in a celebration of queer composers across time and place.

Pre-Concert Talk

Please join Orchestra Victoria for a pre-concert talk in Elisabeth Murdoch Hall from 6.30pm – 7.15pm.

COVID Safety

Melbourne Recital Centre is committed to the safety of our artists, staff and patrons. A range of public health, hygiene and physical distancing measures are currently in place. Click here to learn more.
