About the concert

David Kim performs with and directs musicians from the Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) in a program of operatic Mozart and joyous Dvořák as part of our Mostly Mozart series.

Mozart’s Magic Flute is a joyful opera that is rightfully a favourite of many, and in the right hands a brass ensemble will provide delicate new colour and riveting energy to these beautiful odes of affection. The Rondo from the Haffner serenade is a miniature violin concerto, letting guest director David Kim’s virtuosity shine. Dvořák’s Serenade for Strings is one of his most popular works, a joyous piece that, true to the style of this Romantic powerhouse, runs the gamut of emotions, and gives ample room for this talented ANAM ensemble to stretch their wings.

Be moved by the Mozart arias, wowed by the Rondo, and soothed by the majesty of the Dvořák.
